This article is about the renamed current station . For the abandoned pre-1966 station, see Lynnthomas Street (Adustelan Rapid Transit Station).
The station originally opened in 1920 as a station of the Old A, C, and D Lines of the Adustelan Rapid Transit System, and was originally named Fern Corner (the original name for the neighborhood of Bartlynnth); the current Lynnthomas Street name was used by a station further west on the C Line.
Fern Corner was the last stop on an express C Line train on August 29, 1955 before it derailed west of the station, crashing into the adjacent Lynnthomas Street station, killing 9 and injuring 67. When the original four-line subway system was phased out in favor of the new Adustelan Metro between 1962 and 1966, all of the stations in the old system fell into a state of disrepair.
The station was renovated as part of a project upgrading the Old A Line and integrating it into the new system. The new G Line was routed into the station on the Old A Line platform, while the C and D platforms remained shuttered. Upon reopening in 1999, the station took the name of the shuttered station further west on Lynnthomas Street.
The old D platform reopened in 2002 to serve the new H Line. The old D line had already been demolished years earlier, so the H could not repurpose tracks like the G line did. As of 2017, the old C platform is still abandoned.
The station became the second in the Adustelan Metro system to be added to the Adustelan Register of Historic Places. It was added on February 18, 2017.
Lynnthomas Street Station was built between February 12 and 17, 2017. The station incorporates a design used by FalconStorm at an abandoned station further west on the Old C Line, but was widened by StaticAnnouncement to accommodate two platforms and was further modernized.
The interior work was done by StaticAnnouncement, and the H Line extension was added by both FalconStorm and StaticAnnouncement. This was their first complete joint effort on a subway station in the city.
