Barrymore County is one of the five counties of Carraway Island (the other four being Ehrmantraut, Lewis, Vassaras, and Walsh).

The county seat is Nestem, making Barrymore County the only county on Carraway Island to have a county seat in a place other than its most populous city.

As of 2019, its population is 603,237. The population was initially much lower (about 70,000 at the 2014 census), however on August 3, 2018, the formerly independent city of Jan Beach was absorbed by the county, boosting its population dramatically for the 2019 Census. This makes the county the second-most populous on Carraway Island.
